There’s no love quite like Mango love — when we care about a cause, we show it. We love libraries and we’re all about championing their cause and supporting the important work libraries do.
We show our love for libraries in a lot of different ways: we partner with libraries, blog about libraries, create scholarships for libraries, we even party with librarians (spoiler alert — they’re a ton of fun). Now, we want to help our partner, EveryLibrary, celebrate their 5th anniversary by uniting One Million Americans for Libraries and spreading the word about why libraries are so important to our communities. Show your love for public libraries by liking the EveryLibrary Facebook page and sharing it with your friends. Can we count you in?
Why are libraries so important?
Across the country, libraries in communities, schools, and colleges serve as a hub for resources and tools that can change lives. Libraries make a huge difference through important work like job assistance, skills training, and literacy for people of all ages.
One of the reasons we love libraries is that they offer free educational resources to the community, including Mango. Libraries that offer Mango to their patrons are giving them free access to the most popular language-learning resource in public libraries across the continent, providing free mobile apps, progress tracking, English courses for non-English speakers, and 71 world language courses for English speakers.
Our partner, EveryLibrary, exists to build voter support for libraries everywhere. Through training, coaching, and running campaigns, they help support the libraries we love and keep funding strong. We know, we know — we’ve got really cool friends.
How can I help support libraries?
Now that you understand why libraries are so important, it’s time to show your support for the awesome work they do. It’s super easy. Join the One Million Americans for Libraries campaign, which runs through November 7th.
The goal is to get over one million “likes” on the EveryLibrary Facebook page, allowing them to reach over 7 million Americans every single week through their posts, sharing the great work that librarians are doing across the country, and getting more Americans to take action and support libraries. This would be a game-changer for library advocacy.
You can also help spread the word to your family, friends, and colleagues by sharing and retweeting the posts we share on Mango’s Facebook page and Mango’s Twitter page. We’ll be drumming up support for our librarian friends all throughout the One Million Americans for Librarians campaign, and we’d love for you to add your voice to the cause (in any language you’d like!).
