Core Value: Innovation

August 16th, 2010

Innovation word cloud glowingMango Languages’ core values define our work culture. I have to admit we have a pretty fun culture, and our core values come in to play in just about everything we do.  Our six core values are:

1. Entrepreneurial Spirit
2. Quality
3. Innovation
4. Integrity
5. Fundipline (hybrid of fun and discipline)
6. Positive Attitude

This post is all about #3: innovation.  According to Wikipedia innovation is a change in the thought process for doing something, or the useful application of new inventions or discoveries.

This core value is really important to keep things fresh and to add new ideas on the product development side of the business.  We work hard to keep the ideas flowing.  Having brain storming sessions. Working on cross-departmental teams. Coming up with crazy out of the box ideas and trying to find ways to make it happen.

Lots of creative juices flow around here. The only challenge… we are still only three years old and don’t have a ton of resources like the big guys. So, we have to be innovative in how we implement our ideas.

I think this is what makes us different than many other language learning companies. We are always looking at what is the next big thing and how do we get there. A truly great equation for success.

How do you keep innovating in your job?

Fundipline…..is that even a word?

April 5th, 2010

We at Mango Languages hold true to our six core values: Entrepreneurial Spirit, Integrity, Innovation, Positive Attitude, Quality, and Fundipline. Fundipline you ask?  Are we making words up at Mango Languages….?

Yes we are! Fundipline is a mix of Fun and Discipline.  While it takes great discipline to deliver our world-class language learning products, it can’t be all work and no play. We also know how to have a good time, whether it is our Friday Fiesta celebration outside on a beautiful spring day, or a phenomenal product launch party!  We believe that if you do not take a moment to step back and cut loose, the work environment can be stifling and restrict creativity.

What are your views on having some fun in the work place? We would love to hear about fun experiences you have had at your current or previous employers!bigstockphoto_Values_Road_Sign_3471393

The Power of Positive Attitude

February 8th, 2010

We are currently looking to add several talented professionals to our staff in Farmington Hills, MI. Over the past couple weeks we have interviewed many candidates in our headquarters, and some  of my proudest moments have come when  interviewees remarked upon one of our core values: Positive Attitude. Nearly everyone we spoke with stressed how every Mango seemed energetic and ready to tackle the day with a smile on their face. It reminded me that a positive attitude can take you a long way in the business world. It seems simple enough, and we’ve all heard this advice a hundred times, but occasionally it takes an outsider’s perspective to remind you of how unique your work environment truly is. It makes me appreciate our staff even more. bigstockphoto_Values_Road_Sign_3471393

Do you think a positive attitude can make a difference at a company? It’s a lot better than becoming a single-minded production drone!

Core Value-Entrepreneurial Spirit

October 12th, 2009

Mango Languages has six core values that we all believe very strongly in: Quality, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Positive Attitude, Innovation, Integrity, and Fundipline. Let’s chat today about Entrepreneurial Spirit. It is the driving force behind the development and growth of our company. But what is Entrepreneurial Spirit? Some define it as the ability to push boundaries and not be afraid to take risks. Others believe it is the ability to “think outside the box”. At Mango Languages, it is consistent with every decision that we make. Whether it is the direction of our product development or our marketing strategy, this core value is continually held near and dear to our hearts.

What is your definition of Entrepreneurial Spirit?
